Common Social Media Mistakes

The benefits of a strong social media marketing campaign are undeniable. Unfortunately, so are the effects of a poorly run one. Here are some common mistakes in social media marketing:

1. NO STRATEGY
You need to come up with a social media marketing plan and stick to it. You need to have predefined and measurable goals, and you need to create plans to attain those goals.

2. NO TARGET
Know your target audience. Who is reading your posts? Who do you want to engage with you? Do the things you pout out there provide value to your audience? Your results will suffer if you are aiming at nothing in particular.

3. OVER MARKETING
Nobody likes spam. Post too often and you run the risk of being ignored or unfollowed. Focus on quality over quantity.

5. NO CALL TO ACTION
People don’t like “salesy” posts, but you don’t want to forget your calls to action. What do you want your posts to encourage people to do?

6. NO ENGAGEMENT
Social media gives brands the unique opportunity to engage with consumers in a way that is continuously evolving and constantly available. People want to feel heard; further, they crave interaction and immediate reaction. Don’t just post and sit back. Enage!
